Also known as a Cointet-element or C-element, was a defensive design of anti-tank barrier that could connect side by side with more C-elements to reinforce a continuous line. As part of the Belgian pre-war defences over seventy thousand were produced. They could be found in defensive lines such as the K-W Line, 37 miles of anti-tank obstacles defending the approach to Brussels and the Maginot line.
The German army repurposed these defences across Europe, with many thousands moving to Normandy on the beaches and blocking roads and entrances to important installations.
